Legacy Modernization

Replace ageing ETL, mainframe and database estates with a modern, maintainable stack

Services › Digital Modernization › Legacy Modernization

Legacy systems rarely fail loudly. They fail slowly: releases take months, the two people who understand the code are near retirement, licence bills climb every year, and every new initiative starts with the words "first we need to fix the data". Modernization is how you stop paying that tax.

We assess what you have, decide what to rebuild, replace or retire, and then modernize it in phases, so the business keeps its reports and processes throughout. We have converted SAS, Informatica, Oracle PL/SQL and Hadoop workloads to modern cloud platforms for banking, telecom and automotive clients.

What we do

  • Assessment of the existing estate: what runs, what it costs, what depends on it
  • Field-level lineage and impact analysis before anything is touched
  • Conversion of legacy ETL and reporting code (SAS, Informatica, PL/SQL, stored procedures) to PySpark, dbt or SQL on a modern platform
  • Side-by-side reconciliation so every output matches before cut-over
  • Decommissioning plan with licence savings tracked

This is for you if

  • Reports still run on SAS, Informatica or hand-written stored procedures
  • Only one or two people can change the system safely
  • Licence renewals are eating the budget
  • A cloud or AI initiative is blocked by old data plumbing

How we work

  1. 1

    Discover

Inventory jobs, tables, reports and owners. Identify what is unused.

  2. 2

    Design

Choose the target platform and conversion approach per workload.

  3. 3

    Convert and reconcile

Rebuild in waves. Run old and new together until results match.

  4. 4

    Cut over and retire

Switch users, monitor, then decommission and stop the licence.

Technologies we use

  • PySpark
  • Databricks
  • Snowflake
  • dbt
  • Azure
  • AWS
  • SAS
  • Informatica
  • Oracle

Common questions

How long does it take?

A single reporting estate of 100 to 200 jobs typically takes three to six months in phases. We give a firm plan after the assessment.

Will users notice?

They should not. Reports keep the same numbers and, where possible, the same names. Only the engine underneath changes.

Can you handle undocumented code?

Yes. We build lineage from the code itself, then confirm with the people who use the outputs.
